I am excited to share about the Miss South Africa Legacy Initiative that has just been launched – this 60th year jubilee milestone event just keeps the great stuff coming, and the Miss South Africa Organisation have just let us know about this brand new initiative!

The project, run in partnership with the Tomorrow Trust, will use the combined power and profiles of previous Miss South Africa titleholders to collectively approach corporates, sponsors and supporters of Miss South Africa, as well as the public, to contribute funds towards the further education for young South Africans who have the academic potential but lack funds.

Working to complement government initiatives the Miss South Africa Legacy Inititiave will provide holistic support to disadvantaged young people to access and excel at university, and Blue Label Telecoms has already made a R100 000 donation to the fund.

Says Gareth Flusk of Miss South Africa Organisation: “We believe Miss South Africa is an inspirational brand. It promotes giving back and making a positive difference in our communities. Traditionally, each Miss South Africa champions a social cause that is dear to her heart and this will continue to be part of the winner’s journey.

“However, from 2018 onwards, the Legacy Initiative will provide an additional platform for all former Miss South Africa winners to work together as a meaningful force for good, and jointly fundraise and increase awareness of a national objective, specifically focusing on education. The future is tied to our young people, making education critical. Going forward, we will be reigning with purpose.”
